SelexAI
Tackling the Corporate Work Paradox
Tools
SelexAI helps video editors cut interview footage faster without giving up creative control. As the sole designer, I led the project from discovery through MVP, starting with interviews to understand the biggest friction points in editors’ workflows. Those conversations revealed what I call the “corporate work paradox”: corporate projects often pay the most, but feel the least creatively fulfilling. As repetitive post-production tasks pile up, that tension can turn already uninspiring work into procrastination and burnout. After mapping the editing workflow, I narrowed the MVP around the clearest pain point: cutting interview selects. My hypothesis was that AI could surface strong moments earlier in the review process, helping editors move faster from raw footage into shaping the story. Usability testing confirmed the early prototype felt intuitive, but revealed a deeper insight: editors often avoided delegating edits to other editors or AI because they feared important details would fall through the cracks. In response, I designed features that kept editors in control while showing why the AI selected certain moments, giving them more confidence in what was being surfaced. Early users estimated up to 30% time savings in post-production.
